A great thank you to all who prayed for my father. They had a great impact on our family and on my father in particular. On Monday morning August 11 at 2:15am Anthony Leslie Davis parted from the body and entered the presence of his Lord.

The days prior were filled with called and visits from loving friends and families. On Sunday played my guitar and a group of us held one of several worship times with him. Then we circled him, took his hands and prayed for him. All day he was dabbing tears which I believe were simply acceptance and joy.

His parting was sweet and sad. It was mixed with pain at his leaving and joy at his going home. No more pain. No more sorrow. He now awaits the completion of all God’s plans and the resurrection of the body into God’s glory.

As for the obvious question for those who know and love me: I am fine. That doesn’t mean I don’t have my moments, doesn’t mean I do not grieve but it means I do not grieve as the pagans do (who have no hope). I loved my father very much and it was a rare honor to watch him take his last breath. I am humbled to have his mantle so suddenly thrust on my shoulder. May I be worthy of the charge.

He will be remembered and buried on Monday August 18, at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Leesburg VA.

Thanks very much for you kindness to me and my family during this time and always—glory to God from whom all blessings flow. We have taken YEARS of good from His hand and we will also receive this perceived bad with gladness, we will laugh and glorify our savior even through the tears.
