Learning From Pain

C. S. Lewis wrote, “God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains; it is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.” For me the difficulty has always been in knowing exactly what I am to learn from the pain and what action to take. Some pain is to be endured and some cured at all cost. Doing right does not always feel good but it is not my pleasure alone I pursue–but the Lord’s.
