Since God is Love …

We all must learn to love as God loves. So…

Since God is Love we can say …

God is patient, God is kind. God does not envy,

He does not boast, He is not proud.

He is not rude, He is not self-seeking, He is not easily angered,

He keeps no record of sins forgiven (Psalms 103:12).

God does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

He always protects. He is worthy of our trust.

He is the true object of our hope.

He always perseveres.

God never fails.  (1Cor. 13:4-8)

Since Christ is God we can say … (John 1:1)

Christ is patient, Christ is kind. Christ does not envy,

He does not boast, He is not proud.

He is not rude, He is not self-seeking, He is not easily angered,

He keeps no record of sins forgiven.

Christ does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

Christ always protects. Christ is worthy of our trust.

Christ is the true object of our hope.

Christ always perseveres.

Christ never fails.

  1. You are right. What we call love is often a thinly veiled lust. Hmm!

  2. Be doers of the word…said James. Which is exactly what loving (#1 command) is. It’s easy to love someone like our children, best friend, etc… It’s hard to love that person who does everything the way you wouldn’t, or someone who hurt your child. However God said to love our enemy. I couldn’t figure out how for years. Then God gave me a big lesson in forgiveness and love. My daughters was sexual assaulted and the offender now works at our only grocery store. We must look him in the eye almost every day. Then came the “doing”. It’s hard to help someone like that, but God said love our enemies. The lesson I’ve learned from God is awesome. That’s love.
The tummy tickles we get from the love of our lives is often mistaken as love. This is not love, this is lust. Love comes after lust. We lust without trying; love takes much effort.
At least that’s what I think.

  3. Thank you practical insightful loving

  4. Your are so right. Loving in deed not in word.

  5. That was a practical assessment of love. My question to everyone then is, are we demonstrating the love of God?

We should quit saying’i love you’ and demonstrate love by being kind, keeping no records of wrong doings, being slow to anger…

    That speaks volumes of love!!
