En El Año Que… (Parte 2)

En el año de la muerte del rey Uzías vi yo al Señor sentado sobre un trono alto y sublime, y la orla de su manto llenaba el templo.” (IsaÃas 6:1-3)
Aunque a la izquierda las túnicas de Uzías ya habían sido dejadas de lado para que otro las tomara,
aunque a la izquierda su casa había sido entregada a alguien más, aunque a la izquierda su trono era para soportar a otro, a la derecha el Señor estaba, “…sentado sobre un trono alto y sublime, y la orla de su manto llenaba el templo.”
Los tiempos difíciles vendrán a todos y a la vida de cada uno, sino es que ya han venido. El día y año de nuestra tribulación no se anuncia más allá del primer dolor agudo. En ese tiempo, habrán dos visiones delante nuestro – dos maneras de ver nuestras vidas “en ese año.”

In The Year That…(part 2)

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple” (Is. 6:2-3).
Even though on the left Uzziah’s robes had already been set aside for another to take up,
even though on the left his house had been turned over to someone else,
even though on the left his throne was to support another,
on the right the Lord was,
“…seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple.”
The times of trouble will come to each and every life if it has not already come. The day and year of our travail may not announce itself beyond the first sharp pain. At that time, there will be two visions before us—two ways to see our lives “in that year.”
In the year that my grandmother died the Lord was still on His throne.
In the year that my father died the Lord was still on His throne.
In the year of disappointments and setbacks and let downs He is on His throne.
In the year of our need we can be assured that the Lord will still be on His throne.

“En el año de la muerte del rey Uzías vi yo al Señor sentado sobre un trono alto y sublime, y la orla de su manto llenaba el templo.” (IsaÃas 6:1-3)
La memoria a menudo oculta las cosas que nos causaron dolor o incomodidad. La bendición del olvido esconde el dolor detrás de las imágenes más brillantes, más relucientes que hablan de “los buenos viejos tiempos.” Nuestras mentes pretenden que siempre fueron buenos. Nuestras mentes olvidan que “los buenos viejos tiempos” estuvieron llenos de las espinas de la vida.
Dos cosas aparecieron ante Isaías en el momento de la gran tragedia nacional de Israel, cuando el rey de Israel de cincuenta y dos años murió. A la izquierda estaba la pompa humana, la procesión cargando el cuerpo de un rey que no podía volver a montar una defensa o guiar con sabiduría. A la derecha estaba la imagen de “el Señor sentado sobre un trono…”

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple” (Is. 6:2-3).
Memory often obscures the things that bring us pain or discomfort. The blessing of forgetfulness hides the pain beneath the shinier, glossier, pictures that speak of “the good old days.” Our minds pretend they were always good. Our minds forget that the “good old days” were filled with the barbs of life.
Two things appeared before Isaiah at the moment of Israel’s great national tragedy, when Israel’s king of fifty-two years had died. To the left was the human pageantry, the processional carrying the body of a king who could no longer mount a defense or lead with wisdom. On the right was an image of the “…the Lord seated on a throne.”
And even while they mourned the loss of the king who had served them so well and for so long, Isaiah was there to lift their heads.
